Four Musketeers Record Hat Tricks in Record-Setting Win Over Detroit Mercy

Xavier defeated Detroit Mercy, 16-2, for the largest win in program history.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier lacrosse team took down Detroit Mercy, 16-2, for the program's largest win in its four seasons. The Musketeers shut out the Titans in the second half, out scoring them 6-0.
Four different Musketeers recorded hat tricks in the win including Genevieve Hathaway and Cameron Yard who reached the feat for the first time in their careers.
Along with the four hat tricks, seven Musketeers in total found the back of the net.
Xavier improves to 2-4 with their first home win of the season while Detroit Mercy falls to 0-4 on the year.

The Titans scored the first goal of the game at the 12:22 mark in the first quarter, but would go scoreless for the rest of the quarter.
Cameron Yard broke open the scoring for the Musketeers in her career night just under six minutes into the game. Megan Droney and Genevieve Hathaway scored back-to-back goals a minute later, giving the Musketeers a 3-1 lead at the 8:07 mark.
Yard scored her second of the night two minutes and Samantha Balara followed up with her first goal of the night to take a 5-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Detroit Mercy scored the first goal of the second quarter as well, but the Musketeers went on another 5-0 run.
Maya Graham tallied her first of the night at the ten minute mark and Droney added her second two minutes later.
Greer Simonton continued the momentum as she found the back of the net with seven minutes to go in the half, but both teams went scoreless until the final minute.
Balara scored her second of the night with 30 seconds left in the second quarter and Maya Graham scored with one second left for a 10-2 lead at the half.
Yard notched her first career hat trick at the ten minute mark in the third quarter on a man-up opportunity.
Haley Reeck scored her second goal as a Musketeer three minutes later to extend the Musketeer lead to 12-2 before the final quarter.
Hathaway registered her second of the night to kick off the fourth quarter scoring output.
Balara, Hathaway and Graham each scored their third goals of the night one after another to secure a program record 16-2 win.
