Women's Tennis Set to Host Miami (Ohio) and Louisville this Weekend

Musketeers take on RedHawks on Friday, Cards on Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis hosts a pair of matches this weekend, starting with Miami (Ohio) on Friday, March 6, set for a 5:00 p.m. start at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The Musketeers also host Louisville on Saturday, March 7, set for a 3:00 p.m. start at Camargo Racquet Club.

MIAMI (OHIO)
- Miami is 3-7 on the season with wins over Cleveland State, Oakland and Butler.
- Last season the RedHawks went 10-10 overall with a 9-1 record in MAC play. Miami fell to Buffalo in the the MAC Tournament.
- Xavier took a 4-3 win over the RedHawks in the last match-up between the two programs in 2023. Abby Nugent, Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers all picked up singles wins in the match.
LOUISVILLE
- The Cards are 7-4 on the season with a 1-4 record in ACC play.
- Last season, UofL went 13-10 overall and 4-8 in ACC regular season matches. The Cardinals picked up a win over Florida State in the ACC Championships before fall to No. 20 Cal.
- Xavier fell, 4-3, in last season's match in Louisville.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier returns to action on Thursday, March 19, hosting Arizona at 3:30 p.m.
- The Musketeers return to the courts on Sunday, March 22, hosting Cleveland State at 1:00 p.m.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.Â
- Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
- The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
- Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
