Lacrosse Set to Face No. 23 Georgetown

The Musketeers look to win their second consecutive BIG EAST game.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier lacrosse team hits the road after a two-week home stand to face No. 23 Georgetown on Saturday afternoon.
The Musketeers are coming off a 14-9 win over Butler on Wednesday night where Gabby Bouman scored a career-high five goals. The win marked XU's first home BIG EAST win in program history.
Georgetown is on a three-game win streak, most recently defeating Drexel in Philadelphia on Wednesday night by a score of 17-8. The Hoyas are 2-0 in BIG EAST play with wins over Marquette and UConn.
Xavier looks to win back-to-back BIG EAST games for the first time in program history. Georgetown will be the first ranked opponent the Musketeers face this season.
First draw is set for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday in the nation's capital. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.

- Samantha Balara leads the team with 29 points on 22 goals and seven assists. The redshirt junior averages 5.31 shots per game, good for seventh in the BIG EAST
- Megan Droney follows up with 28 points behind her 11 goals and team-high 17 assists. The junior ranks 10th in the league for her 1.31 assists per game.Â
- Colby Wasson ranks second in the BIG EAST for both ground balls (3.00) and caused turnovers per game (2.15). She ranks 13th nationally for ground balls and 25th for caused turnovers.
- Jada Brandon is one of the league's top goalies, maintaining a .462 save percentage with 7.54 saves per game and 9.98 goals against average. She ranks in the top four of league statistics for all three categories.
- Gabby Bouman scored a career-high five goals on Wednesday and became the first Musketeer to reach that mark this season.
- Mya Miller has a team-high 26 draw controls after her record night against Butler where she notched a career-high eight draw controls.
- The Musketeer defense averages 9.46 goals allowed per game and 9.85 caused turnovers per game, good for top-three in the league.Â
- Head coach Brittney Morris picked up her first win as a Division I head coach on Feb. 20 in the 13-6 victory over Mercyhurst. She is in her first season at the helm of Xavier lacrosse after leading Division III St. Mary's College of Maryland to four-straight United East conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Morris retained 20 players from last year's squad with the addition of five transfers and seven newcomers.
- Samantha Balara, Catherine Gurd and Katelyn McDonnell were named the 2026 team captains.

- Georgetown was picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST this season after a 4-2 league finish a year ago that earned them a spot in the BIG EAST semifinals.
- GU is 3-0 all-time against Xavier, taking a 22-11 win in Cincinnati last season.
- The Hoyas are off to a 2-0 start in BIG EAST play and are currently on a three-game win streak.
- Anne McGovern leads the team with 45 points on 27 goals and 18 assists. The junior is second in the league for assists per game (1.64) and third for points per game (4.09). She was named the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for her four-goal and five-assist performance against UConn last weekend.
- Gracie Driggs has scored a team-high 32 goals and ranks third in the league for goals per game (2.91). The senior also leads the team with 38 draw controls.
- Kendall Steer has a team-high 20 ground balls while Christina King has totaled 17 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
- Goalkeeper Leah Warehime has played all 11 games in the cage for the Hoyas and leads the BIG EAST with a .491 save percentage that ranks 13th nationally.
- Georgetown paces the league and ranks fifth in the NCAA with only 10.55 turnovers per game.
- Head coach Caitlyn Phipps is in her second season at the helm of Georgetown women's lacrosse.
