Ekene Okeke Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - Ekene Okeke was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday, earning the honors for the second time in as many weeks.

The senior defender helped the Musketeers go 2-0 last week, picking up a 3-2 road win at Big Ten member Northwestern on Aug. 31 and posting a 2-0 shutout over Bowling Green on Sept. 4.

Okeke scored two goals in the win over Northwestern. He now ranks tied for first on the team in points with four (two goals).

The Houston, Texas, native played all 90 minutes vs Bowling Green, helping the Musketeers record their second shutout of the season. Xavier posted a 1.00 goals against average on the week.

Xavier is one of three remaining teams in the BIG EAST without a loss this season, joining Akron and Creighton. The Musketeers rank third in the conference in fewest goals allowed (3) and goals against average (0.75).

Okeke and the Musketeers return to action at St. Thomas on Sunday, Sept. 13. First touch is set for 2 p.m. ET from South Field.
