Musketeers Host Marquette on Senior Night

Xavier concludes regular-season action on Saturday
CINCINNATI – Xavier volleyball closes BIG EAST regular-season action on Saturday, Nov. 21 against Marquette. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from Cintas Center.
The match will serve as 'Senior Day' for the Musketeers two seniors, Makayla Agin and Lauren Metzger. The first 100 fans in attendance will get a signed team poster.
The Musketeers are coming off a four-set win (25-14, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22) over DePaul on Friday night. Xavier improved to 17-11 (13-4 BIG EAST) with the win. The Musketeers have now won seven of their last eight matches.
Marquette is coming off a three-set win (25-18, 25-14, 25-15) at Butler on Friday night. The Golden Eagles are 21-9 (12-5 BIG EAST) on the year.
• Makayla Agin and Lauren Metzger have helped the Musketeers record 78 total wins and post a .744 winning percentage in conference play over the last four years. Agin and Metzger have also helped Xavier finish no lower than fourth in the conference standings during their careers.
• The Musketeers trail the all-time series with Marquette, 9-6. Xavier snapped a five-game skid in the series with a three-set win (25-23, 25-16, 25-19) on Sept. 23 to open BIG EAST play this season.
• Abbey Bessler led the Musketeers with 16 kills and 11 digs in the first meeting this season. The junior outside hitter eclipsed the 1,000-kill mark in the win.
• Xavier hit .280 in the first meeting, while limiting the Golden Eagles to a .147 hitting percentage. Marquette had five more blocks, 7-2, than Xavier in the match.
• Kristen Massa had 12 kills in the win and Sofia Peterson had eight. Brooke Betts and Lauren Frilling both added five.
• McKena Estes posted the third double-double of her career versus Marquette, recording 21 assists and a team-high 12 digs.
• Xavier will participate in the four-team BIG EAST Tournament on Nov. 27-28 in Omaha, Neb.
