DALLAS - Xavier baseball scored four runs in the first inning, but Dallas Baptist ralled to tie it in the fifth and went on to a 12-5 win on Friday night at Horner Ballpark.

Xavier improved to 9-16 with the loss, while Dallas Baptist moved to 14-9.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier had 11 hits as a team and three players with multiple hits in the game.
• Chris Givin (2-for-4), Conor Grammes (2-for-3, R) and Natale Monastra (2-for-3, RBI) all contributed multi-hit games for XU.
• Ryan Altenberger (1-for-4, R), Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-4, R, RBI), Allbry Major (1-for-4, R, RBI) and Mitch Gallagher (1-for-4, RBI) also had hits.
• Ryan Fournier came off the bench in the ninth and collected a pinch hit single for his second hit of the season.
• Conor Grammes extended his hitting streak to a team-best 10 games.
• Altenberger and Grammes are tied for the team lead with 10 game reached base streaks.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Trevor Olson got the start and tossed four innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts before running into trouble in the fifth.
• Evan Miller came on in relief in the fifth and allowed four runs over two innings to go with two strikeouts.
• Sam Czabala tossed the seventh, striking out one and allowing one earned run.
• Joe Gellenbeck and Roger Danison made their collegiate debuts in the eighth, finishing out the game for XU.

HOW XU SCORED

FIRST INNING | Ryan Altenberger led off with a double to right center, going to third on a wild pitch and scoring on a single through the right side by Joe Gellenbeck. Conor Grammes followed with a single up the middle and both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch. With runners on second and third, Allbry Major singled through the right side to bring home Gellenbeck. Matt Warkentin then followed with a sacrifice fly to score Grammes. The final run of the inning crossed after Major stole second and came around on a single to left by Natale Monastra.
NINTH INNING | Blaine Griffiths worked a one out walk, going to second on a single through the left side by Ryan Fournier. Both runners moved up on a passed ball and Griffiths came home on an RBI single by Mitch Gallagher, making it 12-5.
