BERKELEY, Calif. - Xavier baseball fell on the road, 13-3, against California on Tuesday night at Evans Diamond.

The Musketeeers (3-9) lost a fifth straight game and will look to rebound in a series this weekend at San Francisco.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier had 10 hits, but was held to three runs on the evening.
• Sophomore Conor Grammes went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
• Senior Nate Soria went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
• Chris Givin went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a triple.
• Andrew Sexton was 1-for-1 with a pinch hit single and a run scored.
• Junior Sam Flamini went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, his first of the season.
• Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-2), Ryan Fournier (1-for-2) and Allbry Major (1-for-4) also had hits for Xavier.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Lefty Nick Zwack got the start, going four innings and allowing nine earned runs and striking out six.
• Sophomore Conor Grammes struck out the side in a perfect inning of relief.
• Freshman Allbry Major threw a spotless inning, striking out one in the seventh.
• Junior righty Trey Schramm worked around a walk and a hit in the eighth, striking out all three batters he retired.

HOW XU SCORED

FOURTH INNING: Chris Givin laced a one out triple to right field, coming around to score on a double to left center by Conor Grammes.
SEVENTH INNING: Sam Flamini launched a solo homer to left field with one out, his first of the season.
EIGHTH INNING: Andrew Sexton singled up the middle with one out, moving to second on a walk before coming around to score on a base hit through the middle by Allbry Major.
