Freshman Noah Boffo scored his first career goal on Wednesday night

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer picked up a 2-1 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday night at the XU Soccer Complex. The Musketeers moved to 6-6-1 (2-4 BIG EAST), while the Pirates dropped to 5-7 (2-4 BIG EAST).

SCORING RECAP

47' | XU | Senior Samson Sergi scored on a header just minutes into the second half off ball played by Derrick Otim from the right. Otim's pass was set up off a Jacob Bernsen throw in as both players were credited with an assist.

66' | XU | Freshman Noah Boffo scored off a ball that ricocheted off the hands of the Seton Hall goalkeeper. Classmate Karsen Henderlong was credited with an assist as his shot on goal set up the goal by Boffo.

69' | SHU | Carton McKenzie scored his third goal of the year off a header just outside the net off a ball that was trying to be cleared by a Xavier defender.

NOTABLE

• Senior Samson Sergi now has a team-leading seven goals this season. The forward now has 26 career goals, tied for sixth all-time in program history.

• Freshman Noah Boffo scored his first career against the Pirates. He now has four points (1G, 2A) this season.

• Freshman Karsen Henderlong and redshirt-freshman Jacob Bernsen both picked up their first assists of the year on Wednesday night.

• Redshirt-junior Matthew Rosenberg (6-6-1) made four saves on the night, increasing his season total to 64.

• Seton Hall posted one more shot (14-13) than the Musketeers. Samson Sergi led Xavier with seven shots (four on goal).

• The Musketeers had one more corner kick (3-2) than the Pirates. Both teams committed 10 fouls.

• Xavier moved to 6-1 in the all-time series vs Seton Hall. The Musketeers are now 4-0 against the Pirates at the XU Soccer Complex.
