Women's Tennis Defeats Creighton for Third Conference Win

The Musketeers will return to action tomorrow for BIG EAST matchup with Seton Hall
ORLANDO - Xavier women's tennis moved to 12-2 on the season with their tenth-straight win, beating Creighton, 6-1, in Orlando on Thursday Afternoon. The Musketeers are now 3-0 in BIG EAST Conference play and are undefeated at neutral sites this season.
"Every conference win is a big win," said junior Rachael Reichenbach. "This gives us confidence and momentum going into tomorrow's double header and another conference match. I'm impressed with this team and looking forward to see what we can do!"
Xavier collected the doubles point with a 6-1 win in the No. 2 spot for Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether. The win for Abelson and Ruether is their tenth straight as a pair. Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas then fell in the No. 1 spot, 3-6. Hunter Roper and Rachael Reichenbach, responded, however, with a 6-3 victory to give the Musketeers the early 1-0 lead.
Kaitlin Ruether extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 5 singles spot. Xavier remained consistent throughout the match with three more two-set wins.
Hunter Roper collected the third point for the Musketeers, winning 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 4 spot, while teammate Rachael Reichenbach took another 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 spot. Xavier, with a 4-0 lead, secured their tenth straight win.
Emily Thomas extended Xavier's lead yet again with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. Creighton's only point came in the No. 6 singles spot as Natalie Moyer fell, 3-6, 4-6.
Sophia Abelson collected Xavier's sixth and final point with a win in the No. 1 spot, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8, making the final score 6-1 in favor of the Musketeers.

Xavier returns to action on Friday, March 15 when the Musketeers close out their series of Spring Break matches. Thursday's BIG EAST matchup against Seton Hall is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
