Musketeers will face Wright State tomorrow at 3 PM
CINCINNATI -Â Xavier took the early lead on a Ryan Altenberger home run, but a pair of runs by UC sent Xavier to the ninth down a run. Xavier put the tying run aboard but were unable to score, falling 2-1 to the Bearcats in the Joe Nuxhall Classic.
After Altenberger homered in the second inning, Cincinnati responded with a run in the bottom of the third. The game-winning run came in the seventh, putting the Musketeers at 12-20 on the season.
The Musketeers will now face Wright State in the consolation final of the Joe Nuxhall Classic tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at Marge Schott Stadium on the campus of UC. Xavier has faced the Raiders twice this season, taking the 10th inning win in Dayton and falling at Hayden Field.

- Chris Givin's fifth-inning triple was his third of the season the 12th of his Xavier career, moving him past John McCambridge ('11) into sole possession of fourth place all-time on Xavier's all-time list. Givin also collected his seventh double of the season, going 2-of-3 at the plate. Givin now has 218 career hits, matching Adam Pasono ('09) for 10th most in Xavier's records, and 39 doubles, tying Joe Gellenbeck ('18) for 10th most in program history.
- Ryan Altenberger's home run in the second inning was his fourth of the season, and the Musketeers' 28th of the season. Altenberger finished 2-of-3Â at the plate.
- Allbry Major's ninth-inning double was his eighth of the season.
- Jake Shepski (1-of-4) also contributed a hit.
- The Musketeers had six hits and no walks on the day.

- Trevor Olson pitcked three innings in his first start of the season, striking out three and allowing one run on four hits and no walks.
- Nathan Berg pitched 0.1 innings, walking one and getting an out with two batters faced.
- Sam Czabala entered with one out in the fourth inning, going 3.2 innings, getting a pair of strikeouts and allowing one run on two hits.
- Nick Zwack entered in the eighth inning, and allowed one hit and no runs.
