Lane Flamm, Conor Grammes each pick up a pair of hits

CINCINNATI - Xavier closed out the Joe Nuxhall Classic with a 12-2 loss to Wright State at Marge Schott Stadium at UC on Wednesday afternoon. Xavier moved to 12-21 on the season and move back in to BIG EAST play this weekend at St. John's. Xavier stands at 3-0 in conference play so far this season.

Wright State took a one run lead in the first inning, and added three in the top of the third. Xavier cut into the advantage in the bottom of the frame, but another three run inning, in the eighth put the Raiders ahead six. Xavier added another run in the bottom of the eighth before a grand slam fueled a five-run inning for Wright State set the final score at 11-2.

XU AT THE PLATE

Conor Grammes went 2-of-3 at the plate, with a walk, and collected an RBI.
Lane Flamm picked up the first hit of his college career, a double, and scored his first run as a Musketeer. With a ninth-inning single, Flamm finished 2-of-4 at the plate.
Allbry Major hit his ninth double of the season, going 1-of-4 at the plate and scoring a run.
Chris Givin finished the day with a walk and an RBI.
Matt Warkentin, Luke Stephenson and Jack Housinger each contributed a hit on the day.
The Musketeers had nine hits and three walks on the day.

XU ON THE MOUND

Matt Kent went 2.1 innings in the start, striking out a pair. Kent allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits and four walks.
Marko Boricich entered the game in the third, and pitched 4.2 innings. Boricich finished with a strikeout, and allowed two runs on one hit and three walks.
Evan Miller pitched 1.0 inning, allowing one run on three hits.
David Williams pitched 0.1 innings, with three walks and a strikeout in four batters faced. Williams finished the game with three earned runs.
Jake Shepski picked up the final two outs, allowing three hits and one walk, for a pair of earned runs.

HOW THEY SCORED

THIRD INNING | Lane Flamm hit a double to center field with one out. Connor Grammes singled to center to bring Flamm home, cutting the Wright State lead to three, 4-1.
EIGHTH INNING | Allbry Major hit a lead-off double to left center, and advanced to third on a Matt Warkentin single. Givin put the ball in play to bring Major home to cut the lead down to 7-2.
