Matt Warkentin hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season on Friday night

MASON, Ohio - Xavier baseball dropped game two of the weekend series with Cincinnati, 10-4, on Friday night at Prasco Park. The Musketeers moved to 24-29 on the year, while the Bearcats improved to 26-28.

The Musketeers won the series opener versus the Bearcats, 11-2, on Thursday night at Marge Schott Stadium.

XU AT THE PLATE

Matt Warkentin went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a home run. He now has a team-high eight home runs this season.
Conor Grammes finished the day 1-for-3 with a run and a RBI.
Jake Shepski and Ryan Altenberger both chipped in one hit.
Cincinnati posted seven more hits (11-4) than the Musketeers and left three more runners on base (7-4).

XU ON THE MOUND

Conor Grammes retired the first six batters of the game. The junior pitcher went 2.2 innings, throwing two strikeouts and allowing one run and one hit.
Sam Czabala pitched 1.0 inning of relief, surrendering three runs and three hits.
Trey Schramm threw 1.1 innings of relief, posting two strikeouts. He allowed two hits and one run.
Trevor Olson threw three strikeouts in 3.0 innings of relief. He surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned).
Taylor Williams finished the game, allowing three runs and three hits in 1.0 inning of action.

HOW THEY SCORED

FIRST INNING | Matt Warkentin hit a two-out, two-run blast over the left field fence - scoring Conor Grammes.

THIRD INNING | Conor Grammes hit a two-out, RBI single to left field - scoring Jack Housinger.

SIXTH INNING | Luke Franzoni hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Chris Givin from third base.

• Game three of the weekend series with Cincinnati is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Great American Ballpark. The Reds and Dodgers play at 4:10 p.m. with the Xavier/Cincinnati game scheduled to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Reds/Dodgers game.
