Sophomore Karsen Henderlong scored his third goal of the season on Tuesday afternoon

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Xavier men's soccer dropped a 2-1 match in overtime at No. 12 Kentucky on Tuesday afternoon at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The Musketeers fall to 1-1 on the year, while the Wildcats improve to 6-1.

Kentucky entered the match ranked No. 12 in the most recent (Feb. 8) TopDrawerSoccer.com Top-25 Poll. The Wildcats were ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll for the week Nov. 1, 2020 as Kentucky competed in a fall season.

35' | UK | Brock Lindow scored his third goal of the season off a pass from Daniel Evans.

51' | XU | Karsen Henderlong scored the equalizer off a ball played from Jerome Jolly.

97' | UK | Eythor Bjorgolfsson scored on a penalty kick that was set up by a Xavier handball in the box.

NOTABLE

• Sophomore Karsen Henderlong now has three goals this season and 10 total career goals.

• Jerome Jolly picked up the first points of his Xavier career with the assist on Henderlong's goal. He was one of two players who recorded a team-high two shots in the match (Henderlong also took two shots).

• Senior Matthew Rosenberg (1-1) made three saves in the match. He now has a 0.96 goals against average in 187 minutes of action this season.

• Kentucky held a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. Xavier took one more corner kick (4-3) than the Wildcats and committed two fewer fouls (11-9).

• Xavier moved to 3-8-3 in the all-time series vs the Wildcats. Tuesday's match ended a streak of three consecutive ties in the series.
