Baseball Falls in Game Two Against Cincinnati

CINCINNATI - Xavier took a 4-3 lead into the fourth inning, but two big innings for Cincinnati broke the game open, giving the Bearcats the 22-7 win at Hayden Field on Saturday afternoon. Xavier moves to 4-8 and UC moved to 7-8, the series is even at 1-1 with two games remaining.
Cincinnati took a one run lead in the first abut the Musketeers answered with a Cushing single and three two-out walks to tie it up. UC added two more runs in the second but Xavier responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead that held into the fourth. A four-run fourth put UC ahead for good, and the Bearcats added multiple runs in each of the next four frames, including six run sixth and five run seventh, to extend the lead. Xavier scored three in the seventh but were unable to come all the way back.
Game three is set for Sunday at Hayden Field, with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.

1ST INNING | Jared Cushing led the inning off with a double, then with two outs, Natale Monastra, Luke Stephenson, and Alex Helmin each walked, with Helmin picking up the RBI on the walk after sending Cushing home to make it a 1-1 game.
2ND INNING | Luke Franzoni led off with walk. Kody Darcy put the ball in play, reaching on a fielders choice, while Luke Franzoni was safe at second, then advanced to third on a throwing error by the UC third baseman. With one out and two on, Jack Housinger homered to right field to bring in three RBI, putting Xavier ahead, 4-3.
7TH INNING | Sam Olson led off the inning with a single to left field, then advanced to second on a one-out single from Andrew Walker. Luke Stephenson doubled to center field to send Olson and Walker home to make it 20-6 in favor of UC. With two outs Eddie Rivero doubled down the left field line to bring Stephenson home, setting the score at 20-7.
