Musketeers back in action at Indiana on February 20

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis picked up a fifth-straight win, topping Ball State, 5-2, at Eastern Hills on Friday afternoon.

The Musketeers return to action on Sunday, February 20, traveling to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Indiana Hoosiers at 4:00 p.m.

THE MATCH

In doubles action, the Cardinals struck first with a 6-1 decision against Diego Nava and Ryan Cahill on the No. 1 court. Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama picked up a 6-3 win on the No. 2 court, the pair's third straight win, to draw even in doubles decisions. Shashank Reddy and Charlie Temming secured the point for Xavier on the No. 3 court, a 6-4 win, their fourth straight doubles victory.

To start singles play, Ball State drew even with the Musketeers at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 decision on the No. 2 court against Ryan Cahill.

Diego Nava put the Musketeers back in front, and moved to 7-0 in singles play on the season, with a 6-3, 6-4 win on the No. 1 court.

A 6-4, 6-2 Ball State win on the No. 5 court against Pascal Mosberger pulled the match back into a 2-2 draw.

Brett Winters put Xavier in front for good with a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 win on the No. 3 court, his third straight singles win. Charlie Temming's 7-6 (5), 7-5 decision on the No. 4 court secured the match win for the Musketeers at 4-2.

Marco Pennelli picked up the final singles decision on the No. 6 court, a 7-5, 1-6, 6-2 win to set the final score at 5-2 in favor of the Musketeers.
