Xavier Splits Sunday Doubleheader to Claim 3 of 4 in Bloomington
Game one was rough on the Musketeers. After trading blows early, Indiana scored 10 unanswered runs between the second and fourth innings. Xavier got some momentum back with a Cushing home run, but Indiana tacked on to their already insurmountable lead and won 13-3.
Game two was a complete 180 as Xavier put their foot on the gas and never let up. Three runs crossed on the first with the help of some bases on balls, and a timely Matthew DePrey single for two-RBIs. Up 4-0, Flamm was locked in on the mound to keep the pressure on. Tyler DeMartino delivered in the fourth with a three-run bomb to put Xavier up 7-0. The Hoosiers attempted a comeback with their own three-run inning, but an Aedan Anderson rbi double and a Jack Housinger grand slam put the game out of reach. A rally in the fifth did little ot deter Xavier from clinching the game by an eventual score of 13-7.
Next up, Xavier has their home opener against Michigan on Wednesday at 3:00 pm ET live from Hayden Field.
