Women's Tennis to Host Cincinnati, Cleveland State this Weekend

Musketeers will face Bearcats on Saturday at Eastern Hills, Vikings on Sunday at Camargo
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis will play a pair of home matches this weekend, hosting a pair of matches against Cincinnati and Cleveland State. Xavier faces the Bearcats on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills Indoor, then travels to Camargo Racquet Club on Sunday to face the Vikings at 5:00 p.m.

- Cincinnati is 12-3 on the season, entering Saturday on a 11-match winning streak, most recently topping IUPUI 7-0.
- The Bearcats went 6-10 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
- Cincinnati fell 4-1 to USF in the first round of the AAC Championships.
- Xavier took a 4-3 win in last season's match against the Bearcats. The Musketeers picked up the doubles point, and singles wins on the No. 2, 3 and 6 courts.

- Cleveland State is 7-9 on the season, coming off a 7-0 win over Niagara.
- The Vikings went 8-12 overall and 6-6 in Horizon League play.
- CSU fell 4-1 to UIC in the Horizon League Semifinals.
- Xavier took a 7-0 win in the last match-up in 2019-20. Current Musketeers Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk took singles wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.

- Xavier picked up a 6-1 win over Miami (Ohio) last Sunday in Oxford.Â
- In doubles play, Xavier took the point after taking the No. 3 court, with Kat Lyman and Anna Smith, 6-2, then clinched the point on the No. 2 court with a 6-1 win for Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham.
- Kat Lyman picked up the first decision in singles, taking a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 3 court to make it a 2-0 Xavier lead. Miami picked up a point on the No. 2 court, a 6-2, 6-2 win over Imani Graham.
- Emily Thomas took a 6-2, 6-3 win on the No. 6 court to make it a 3-1 Xavier lead and Anna Roggenburk secured the win with a 6-3, 6-3 win on the No. 4 court.
- Anna Smith made a 5-1 lead, with a 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 5 court and Ahmeir Kyle's comeback 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 win on the No. 1 court set the final score at 6-1 Xavier.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
