Women's Tennis Heads to Marquette, DePaul to Close Out Regular Season

Musketeers face Golden Eagles on Friday at 3 PM ET, Blue Demons on Saturday at 12:15 PM ET
CINCINNATI - Â Xavier women's tennis closes out the regular season on the road, BIG EAST opponents Marquette and DePaul on Friday and Saturday. The Musketeers face the Golden Eagles on Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET, before closing out the regular season with a 12:15 p.m. ET match against the Blue Demons on Saturday.
Following the match with DePaul, Xavier will travel to the BIG EAST Championship, held in Cayce, S.C. from Thursday, April 21 - Sunday, April 24.

- Marquette enters the match at 11-8 overall and 4-1 in BIG EAST play, coming off a 6-1 win over Seton Hall.
- The Golden Eagles went 6-8 overall last season and 0-3 in BIG EAST play.
- MU took a 4-0 win over Georgetown in the BIG EAST Tournament first round before Marquette's season came to an end when Xavier took a 4-0 win in the quarterfinals. Xavier took the doubles point, then wins on the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts.
- Xavier also picked up the win in the regular season match-up, 5-2, taking the doubles points and singles courts No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5.

- DePaul enters the match at 7-7 overall with a 4-2 record against BIG EASTÂ opponents. The Blue Demons are coming off a 5-2 loss to St. John's last Sunday.
- The Blue Demons finished 11-5 overall and 3-1 in BIG EAST play last season.
- DU used wins against Butler (4-0) and Villanova (4-1) in the BIG EAST Tournament to advance to the championship match.
- DePaul's season came to an end in the BIG EAST Championship match when Xavier took a 4-1 win to take the BIG EAST title. Xavier took the doubles point and the first two singles decisions, on the No. 3 and No. 4 court before DePaul picked up a point. Kat Lyman secured the win on the No. 2 singles court.
- Xavier also took the win in the regular season match, 4-3, taking the doubles point and the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles courts.

- After picking up a win in the No. 1 singles spot to help Xavier to a 7-0 sweep of Butler over the weekend, graduate student Ahmeir Kyle was named the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week.
- Kyle, originally from St. Joseph, Mich., earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Butler's Natalie Boesing in No. 1 singles en route to Xavier's victory. The Musketeers have now won four of their last five matches as they conclude their regular season with a pair of BIG EAST matches this weekend against Marquette and DePaul.Â
- This is Kyle's second Singles Player of the Week honor of the season.

- Xavier women's tennis picked up a 7-0 win over Butler on Sunday at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. The Musketeers moved to 10-8 on the year, including a 7-3 home record, and 1-0 in BIG EAST action.Â
- Xavier didn't drop a set to the Bulldogs in singles or doubles action, sweeping the match. Anne-Sophie Courteau and Anna Smith started the day with a 6-0 win in the No. 3 doubles spot. Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham followed with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 doubles slot.
- Ahmeir Kyle earned her seventh singles win of the season at the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Natalie Boesing. Imani Graham won her 12th singles match of the season and her fourth in a row, topping Delaney Schurhamer in the No. 2 singles spot.
- Anna Roggenburk (No. 3), Anna Smith (No. 4), Blessing Nwaozuzu (No. 5) and Emily Thomas (No. 6) all won their matches. All told, Xavier only dropped 18 points in singles action.

- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
