CINCINNATI, OH - Xavier baseball was in the throws of another close duel with the BIG EAST leaders. While Creighton took the win 11-9, there was never as easy moment throughout the game.

Things started like they did in Game One, with a first-inning run. The 1-0 score held for four full innings until Jack Housinger gave Xavier the lead with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth. Jonathan Kelly and Trevor Olson combined to hold Creighton in check for 5.2 innings

Creighton hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh to retake the lead, but it would be challenging to keep it. They scored again in the eighth, but three singles in the bottom half brought Xavier back within three. The Blue Jays blew it open in the ninth with five runs, but Xavier still wasn't finished. RBIs from five different Musketeers netted six runs, and the Musketeers got all the way back to putting the tying run at the plate with one out in the ninth, but a Creighton pitching change ended the threat there.

The Series Finale is tomorrow at 1:00 pm ET at Hayden Field.

XU AT THE PLATE

Luke Franzoni got on base in all five plate appearances, going 3-3 at the plate including an RBI and two runs scored.
Garrett Schultz went 3-5 with an RBI and a run.
Jack Housinger finished 2-5 including a two-run homer in the fifth and another run scored.
Tyler DeMartino went 2-4 with an RBI and a run.
Lane Flamm hit a pinch hit two-RBI double in the ninth to pull Xavier within two.
Eddir Rivero also had a pinch hit RBI knock, a single.
Jared Cushing finished 1-4 with a run, and Matt DePrey also scored.
Andrew Walker didn't have a hit, but recorded an rbi on a walk and later scored.

XU ON THE MOUND

Connor Bailey got the first out of the game, a strikeout.
Jonathan Kelly was clinical in relief, going 3.1 scoreless innings and picking up three strikeouts.
Trevor Olson did just as well, going 2.1 innings and striking out four while allowing just one baserunner.
Jerry Huntzinger let up a grand slam in the eighth, and Lane Flamm gave up four earned runs in the ninth.
