Xavier travels to Cleveland State next Saturday

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis opened the home portion of the spring schedule with a 6-1 win over NKU on Friday evening.

Xavier returns to the road next weekend, facing Cleveland State on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1:00 p.m.

THE MATCH

In doubles play, Xavier used wins in the No. 1 spot for Ryan Cahill and Deacon Thomas (6-2), and In the No. 3 spot for Jorge Santamaria and Marco Pennelli (7-6 (8)) to take the 1-0 lead. Cambell Nakayama and Kyle Totorica fell in tiebreakers, 7-6 (3), in the No. 2 spot.

Ryan Cahill picked up the win in the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. Deacon Thomas took the No. 2 court, 7-6 (4), 6-4 and Kyle Totorica took the comeback win on court No. 3, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-7.

Marco Pennelli took a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles and Jorge Santamaria took No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-3.

NKU picked up a point on No. 4 singles, a 6-7 (2), 6-, 6-4 win against Cambell Nakayama.
