Kiera Armitage sets a career high in draw controls
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's lacrosse fell to Villanova 21-9 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Musketeers fall to 4-9 (0-5 BIG EAST), while the Wildcats advance to 11-4 (3-2 BIG EAST).
• Xavier outscored Villanova in the first, third, and fourth quarters in ground balls and in the first, second, and fourth quarters in the draw circle.
• Kiera Armitage posted the game-high of seven draw controls in the contest - a new career record for the freshman midfielder. Armitage also went 1-1 on free position goals and recorded her first career assist.
• Graduate attacker Riley Halloran scored the team-high of two goals while also contributing one ground ball, one draw control, and one caused turnover.
• Freshman attacker Lola Mancuso tallied up a goal and an assist for the Musketeers, bringing her career totals to 37 goals and five assists.
• Five additional Musketeers tallied goals against the Wildcats - junior midfielder Sawyer Walker, sophomore midfielder Julie Cassidy, graduate midfielder Jessica Harrison, freshman midfielder Molly Janssen, and freshman attack Natalie Ellis.
• Freshman midfielder Erin Berls also earned a career-high in the draw circle with five controls for the Musketeers.
• Graduate defender Hannah McFeeters posted two caused turnovers against Villanova, the team-high, as well as one ground ball.
• The team-high of three ground balls was captured by freshman defender Sydney Saba.
• Freshman goalkeeper Jada Brandon recorded six saves in 30 minutes of goal time.
• The Musketeers totaled nine goals, two assists, 19 draw controls, and 17 ground balls.
The Musketeers will return to action Saturday, April 29 when they close out the season at UConn. First draw set for 11:30 a.m. EST from Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
