Creighton defeated Xavier, 1-0, on Saturday night at Corcoran Field

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer dropped a 1-0 BIG EAST matchup vs Creighton on Saturday night at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers fall to 4-5-1 (1-2-1 BIG EAST), while the Bluejays improved to 6-4-3 (1-2-1 BIG EAST).

Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 vs Marquette. First touch is set for 7 p.m. from Corcoran Field.

NOTABLES

Xavier took one more shot (8-7) than Creighton and committed three more fouls (20-17). The Bluejays took one more shot on goal (4-3) than Xavier and recorded two more corner kicks (5-3).
Six Musketeers took a shot in the match paced by Taylor Rhinehart and Cannon Scretchen who both took two shots (one on goal).
Five Musketeers played the entire 90 minutes: Jonny Mennell, Ernest Mensah Jr., Cooper Forcellini, Matthew Senanou and George Waites.
Jonny Mennell (4-5-4) allowed one goal and made two saves between the pipes. He has a 0.92 goals against average on the year with 32 saves and six shutouts. Mennell has a 0.50 goals against average in four BIG EAST matches.
The loss was only the fourth BIG EAST loss of the John Higgins era. He moves to 8-4-10 in conference matches.
Xavier has now been held without a goal six times in a match this season.
Xavier is 2-2 in its last four meetings vs the Bluejays. The Musketeers moved to 3-4-1 when playing Creighton at Corcoran Field.
