Musketeers face Purdue at 1 PM on Friday, Tigers at 10 AM on Saturday
CINCINNATIÂ - Xavier women's tennis travels to West Layfayette, Ind., facing Purdue on Friday, January 31, and then taking on Memphis on Saturday, February 1, at Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Center.
The match with the Boilermakers is set for a 1:00 p.m. start on Friday, and the Musketeers take on the Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

PURDUE
- Purdue is 2-1 on the season, taking wins over Illinois State, 6-1, and Butler, 7-0, and falling to Kentucky, 6-1, on the road.
- The Boilermakers went 13-10 last season with a 5-6 record in Big Ten play, falling to top-seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Xavier faced Purdue last season in West Lafayette, falling 7-0.Â
MEMPHIS
- The Tigers are 1-3 on the season, taking a 5-2 win over Utah and falling to Ole Miss, 4-2, Georgia Tech, 4-1, and No. 3 Stanford, 4-0.
- Memphis went 17-8 last year, with a 5-1 record in AAC play, earning the No. 3 seed in the league tournament. The Tigers, who were ranked No. 47 at the time of the conference tournament, fell to No. 1 seed SMU in the AAC title match.
- The Musketeers last faced Memphis in the 2022-23 season, falling to the Tigers, 4-1, in Cincinnati.

- Next weekend, the Musketeers travel to Bloomington, Ind., to face IU on Sunday, February 9, set for an 11:00 a.m. start.
WEEKLY AWARDS
- Xavier women's tennis' duo of Abby Nugent and Clara Owen were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week after going 2-0 last weekend, the league office announced on Monday.
- Nugent, a junior from Springboro, Ohio, and Owen, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio, picked up a 6-3 win on the No. 1 doubles spot as the Musketeers fell, 4-3, at Michigan State.
- The pair, who were ranked No. 17 in ITA's most recent doubles rankings, also picked up the first decision in doubles against West Virginia on Saturday, helping the Musketeers take the doubles point in Xavier's 6-1 win over West Virginia at Michigan State.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier women's tennis picked up a 6-1 win over West Virginia on Saturday afternoon at Michigan State's Indoor Tennis Center.
- In doubles, Xavier picked up the first decision, with Abby Nugent and Clara Owen taking the 6-1 win on the No. 1 court. Abigail Siminski and Ellie Brotherton took a 6-1 win on No. 3 doubles to clinch the point.Â
- Clara Owen picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court to make it a 2-0 lead for the Musketeers. Emily Flowers made it a 3-0 Xavier lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win on the No. 4 court.
- Abigail Siminski picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win on the No. 5 singles court to clinch the win at 4-0 for the Musketeers.
- WVU picked up a point on the No. 3 court with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Madeleine Rexroat. Xavier picked up the final two points with Abby Nugent taking a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win on the No. 2 court and Elizabeth Pendergast taking a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1) win on the No. 1 court to set the final score at 6-1.
THE MUSKETEERS
- The Musketeers are looking for their fifth-straight, and sixth overall, BIG EAST Championship, and look to make a return trip to the NCAA Championship.
- Xavier returned six student-athletes from last year's BIG EAST Championship roster including juniors Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski as well as sophomores Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato and senior transfer Elizabeth Pendergast, who made her debut as a Musketeer this fall. Xavier also added a trio of freshmen to the roster, Clara Owen, Madeleine Rexroat and Natalie Smitek.
- Xavier wrapped up the fall schedule with Abby Nugent and Clara Owen becoming the first players in program history to compete in doubles at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair earned the bid after advancing to the finals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
- Madeleine Rexroat also took part in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, representing the BIG EAST in singles. Elizabeth Pendergast and Emily Flowers competed at the ITA Sectional Championships as a doubles team, with Pendergast also playing in the singles draw.
