CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 58-54 road contest vs Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Musketeers move to 6-21 (1-15 BIG EAST), while the Bulldogs improve to 15-14 (5-11 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to BIG EAST action on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Marquette. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET from the Al McGuire Center.

NOTABLE
- Butler opened the game on a 9-0 run before the Musketeers responded with an 11-2 run to tie the contest, 11-11, after 10 minutes of action. Tae'lor Purvis hit a three pointer as time expired in the quarter to tie the game.
- The Bulldogs started the second frame on a 14-2 run, taking its largest lead of the half, 25-13, with 5:41 on the clock. Xavier battled back with a 12-3 run to close within five points (30-25) at the break.
- Aizhanique Mayo and Vivien Nejašmić led the Musketeers in scoring at the half with six points each. Xavier went 5-for-10 from behind the arc in the fist half.
- Xavier closed within four points (40-36) on a Meri Kanerva layup with 25 seconds left in the third quarter. Butler responded by scoring three straight points capped by a Karsyn Norman layup as time expired, taking a 43-36 advantage.
- Butler led by as many as nine points, 47-38, with 7:04 left in regulation. The Musketeers battled back to close within one point, 52-51, on a MacKenzie Givens layup with 44 seconds left on the clock.
- Xavier had two turnovers down the stretch and the Bulldogs went 6-for-6 from the foul line in the final 11 seconds of the game to go ahead by seven points (58-51). Aizhanique Mayo sank a three pointer as time expired to make the final ledger, 58-54.
- Xavier went 6-for-11 from the floor in the fourth quarter with two 3-pointers.
- Aizhanique Mayo led Xavier with 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting with four 3-pointers. The guard added four steals and two rebounds. She now has 19 career double-figure scoring games.
- Meri Kanerva finished with nine points, four assists and four steals.
- Tae'lor Purvis chipped in a game-high five assists to go along with four rebounds, three points and two steals.
- Vivien Nejašmić and Petra Oborilova both scored six points.
- Xavier finished the game with a .385 field-goal percentage (20-for-52) and went 8-for-17 from three-point range. The Musketeers were also 6-for-8 from the foul line.
- Xavier had 12 steals, the team's 10th game of the year with 10 or more steals.
- Butler won the battle on the glass, 33-26, and scored one more point off of turnovers (19-18) than Xavier. The Bulldogs also held a 24-20 advantage in points in the paint.
- Xavier scored four more fastbreak points (9-5) than Butler and held a 30-11 advantage in bench points. The Musketeers also scored three more second-chance points (8-5).
- Butler posted a .422 field-goal percentage (19-for-45) and went 4-for-16 from behind the arc. The Bulldogs were also 16-for-23 from the foul line.
