Musketeers Face Rival Bearcats on Wednesday Night

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's lacrosse team travels across town for a matchup with rival Cincinnati on Wednesday evening.

The Musketeers (0-1, 0-0) play the Bearcats (1-2, 0-0) in Nippert Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.

Junior Lola Mancuso picked up where she left off last season, scoring three goals and recording one draw control in Xavier's season opener at Akron.

Three new Musketeers, Brooke Kelly, Maya Graham and Morgan Handzel earned the start in their first career game.
Handzel led the team with six draw controls and also notched an assist in her debut game.
Graham recorded an assist while Kelly retrieved one ground ball.
Four different Musketeers scored in the season opener including Mancuso, Julie Cassidy, Kirra Crowley and Gabby Bouman with her first career goal.

Cincinnati is currently 2-3 after picking up a victory over Kent State on Sunday.
The Musketeers are 0-1 all time against the rival Bearcats, dropping last year's matchup at Corcoran Field.
The Bearcats were picked to finish fourth in the inaugural Big 12 Preseason Poll.
Camryn Callaghan, Lauren Ottensmeyer and Alexis Rich were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
Ottensmeyer led the team with 57 goals last season while Callaghan followed close behind with 56.
Rich led the defense with 29 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers last season.

2025 schedule

The Musketeers were picked to finish seventh in the BIG EAST preseason poll.
Xavier will face Duke, Bucknell, South Florida and Gardner-Webb for the first time in program history.
The Musketeers will face opponents from six conferences outside of the BIG EAST.
Xavier faces two teams who reached the NCAA Tournament last season, including Duke and BIG EAST foe Denver.
Denver was ranked No. 23 in the IWLCA Preseason Poll while Duke checked in at No. 25.
XU opens the home slate on March 13 against Gardner-Webb.
BIG EAST play begins on March 23 when Xavier hosts reigning champion Denver at Corcoran Field.
Xavier will travel to Butler on April 26 for the final game of BIG EAST regular season play.
The 2025 BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted by Villanova from May 1-3, welcoming the top four teams in the final standings.
