Musketeers and Bulldogs set to face off at 4:30 PM on Friday
CINCINNATIÂ - Xavier men's tennis heads to Cayce, S.C., this week to take part in the 2025 BIG EAST Championships, Presented by JEEP. The Musketeers earned the No. 6 seed, and are set to open up play in the Quarterfinals against No. 3 seeded Butler on Friday, April 18, at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.
The match between the Musketeers and the Bulldogs is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start and the winner will advance to play the winner of No. 2 Creighton vs. No. 7 Marquette in the Semifinals on Saturday.
Xavier enters the postseason at 9-12 overall and 2-3 against BIG EAST teams.Â

TOURNAMENT INFO
- The 2025Â BIG EAST Tennis Championships Presented by JEEP returns to the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C., from April 17-20.
- The Men's and Women's Championship rounds will be streamed live on FloSports.
- Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center will host the championship for the eighth consecutive year. The facility offers 30 lighted world-class courts with a championship-sized stadium court that has a viewing capacity of approximately 500 spectators. There are seven dedicated 38' courts for 8 & Under Tennis. Courts are complete with a small central gazebo, iced water coolers and electrical outlets on every court for ball-machine use.
- Seeds for the championships were determined by a committee that reviews each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

BUTLER INFO
- Butler is 13-8 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST play, earning the No. 3 seed with a 5-1 record in BIG EAST with wins over Villanova, Xavier, DePaul, Georgetown and Marquette, falling to Creighton.
- The two teams faced off on March 22, with the Bulldogs taking a 5-2 win in Indianapolis.
- In doubles, Butler picked up a pair of 6-4 wins, over Pascal Mosberger and Ryan Cahill on No. 1, and against Andrew Spurck and Alex Kotarski on No. 2, to secure the point.
- Xavier picked up a pair of singles decisions, with Kyle Totorica winning, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, on the No. 5 court, and Andrew Spurck taking a 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court. Ryan Cahill fell in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (2), on court No. 1 and Alex Kotarski fell, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, on No. 4. Butler also picked up wins on the No. 2 court, 6-4, 6-0, against Pascal Mosberger, and on the No. 3 court, 6-0, 6-4, against Christian Gonzalez, to set the final score at 5-2.
- Last season Butler went 10-17 overall with a 4-2 record in BIG EAST play, falling to St. John's in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals.
- BU took last season's match-up, 4-3, in Cincinnati.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Musketeers split the final weekend of the regular season, taking a 5-2 win over Marquette and falling 4-0 to No. 41 Arkansas.
- In the win over Marquette, Xavier picked up a 6-1 decision on the No. 2 doubles court for Alex Kotarski and Christian Gonzalez and then clinched the point with a 6-2 win for Kyle Totorica and Charlie Temming, the pair's third straight win on the No. 3 court.
- Marco Pennelli made it a 2-0 Xavier lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court. Alex Kotarski won on the No. 3 court, 6-1, 6-2, for his team-high 12th singles win to make it a 3-0 Xavier lead.
Marquette picked up a point with a 6-3, 6-3 win on the No. 1 court against Ryan Cahill. Christian Gonzalez clinched the match for the Musketeers with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win on court No. 4. - After the match was decided, Marquette picked up a second point, taking court No. 5, 5-7, 7-5, 10-3, against Kyle Totorica. Pascal Mosberger picked up the final point for the Musketeers on court No. 2, taking a 2-6, 7-6 (1), 10-5 win to set the final score at 5-2.
- Against Arkansas, the Razorbacks took a 6-2 win on the No. 3 doubles court against Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica. Christian Gonzalez and Alex Kotarski picked up a 7-5 win on the No. 2 court in the second decision. The point was decided on the No. 1 court, going to tiebreakers, but Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger fell, 7-6 (6) to give the Razorbacks the 1-0 lead.
- In singles, Charlie Temming fell, 6-0, 6-3, on the No. 2 court to make it a 2-0 lead for Arkansas. A 6-2, 6-0 win against Christian Gonzalez on the No. 3 court made it a 3-0 lead and the Razorbacks clinched the match, 6-4, 6-0, against Ryan Cahill on the No. 1 court.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letter-winners from last year's squad, including All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill.
- The Musketeer also return Christian Gonzalez, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
