Women's Lacrosse Drops Non-Conference Finale at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Xavier women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-9 contest to Vanderbilt in the penultimate game of the season. The Musketeers close out the season at Butler on Saturday.
The Musketeers fall to 1-13 (0-5 BIG EAST) while the Commodores improve to 8-8 (2-3 AAC).

Vanderbilt started the game with two quick goals within the first three minutes.Â
Both teams went cold over the next seven minutes despite the Musketeers taking four shots.
The Commodores ignited their offense again with three more goals in the final minutes of the first quarter.
Lola Mancuso then scored on a free position attempt with seconds left in the opening period to get the Musketeers on the board.
Vanderbilt scored the first goal of the second period, but the Musketeers responded with back-to-back goals from Machaela Henry and Mancuso to cut their deficit to three.
The Commodores went on to close out the first half with a 10-3 lead.
Mancuso scored her third of the game on a free position shot, marking her 21st career hat trick.
Vanderbilt responded with two of their own before Maya Graham netted the fourth goal of her rookie season.
The Musketeers opened the final period with an offensive surge kicked off by a Lily Hayes free position goal.
Morgan Handzel then connected with a wide open Megan Droney outside of the crease to make it a 13-7 game.
Droney scored once more after a three-goal Vanderbilt stretch for her third multiple-goal game this season.
The Commodores tacked on two more in the final minutes while Henry scored her second of the afternoon assisted by Lily Villaflor.
