Musketeers return to Hayden Field for three-game series with Seton Hall this weekend
Jake Lambdin led off the bottom of the first by reaching on catcher's interference, moved to second on a single from Carter Hendrickson and scored after a single from Connor Misch and a RedHawk error.
Miami tied it with a run in the third but the Musketeers brought in three runs in the bottom frame to retake the lead. Lambdin led of the inning with a single and Hendrickson walked to put the first two runners on. Misch singled up the middle to bring in Lambdin and put Xavier in front, 2-1. A sac bunt from Aedan Anderson moved the runners up and Nolan Tucker brought in two runs with a single to center field, making it a 4-1 Xavier lead.
The RedHawks got a run in the fifth, then scored five in the sixth to take the lead, 7-4. Isaac Wachsmann led off the bottom of the sixth with his 10th home run of the season. Walks from Jason Jelic and Donavan Canterberry and a single from Hendrickson loaded the bases with one out in the inning. Misch brought in a run with a walk, and the a sac fly from Anderson tied the game at 7-7 after six.
A two-run home run in the seventh put Miami back in front, 9-7, and added another run in the eighth to lead 10-7. The Musketeers got a run back in the bottom of the eighth, with Lambdin getting on with a walk, moving over on a single from Hendrickson and coming home on a single from Anderson, but the Musketeers were unable to get another run across, setting the final score at 10-8.
Xavier continues its seven-game homestand this weekend, hosting Seton Hall for a three-game series, set to get underway on Friday, May 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Hayden Field.

- Ashton Chronister faced one batter in the sixth, issuing a walk.
- Luke Hoskins entered with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth, allowing two runs on four hits in 1.2 innings of work, striking out a pair.
- Jon Wylie entered for the eighth, facing four batters, allowing one run in 0.1 inning.
- Nick Boyle came in from the bullpen with two on and one out in the eighth, getting a double-play ball to get the Musketeers out of the inning. He went 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out a pair.
