Women's Tennis Goes 26-1 at Xavier Invite

MASON, Ohio - Xavier women's tennis opened up the fall schedule with a strong showing at the Xavier Invitational, collecting 26 wins against player from Ball State, Dayton and NKU at the Lindner Family Tennis center.
The Musketeers swept single play, going 18-0 in the hidden dual format. Madeleine Rexroat played in the No. 1 position, picking up a 7-6 (4), 6-1 win over Priyanka Rana of Ball State, a 6-1, 6-4 win over Sydney Zakic of NKU and a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kristen Chin of Dayton to earn Single MVP for the tournament.
Abigail Siminski played in the No. 2 spot, taking wins over Isabel Tanjuatco of Ball State, 6-2, 6-4, Aaditi Bhat of NKU, 6-3, 6-0, and Monsterrat Sierra of Dayton, 6-1, 6-4, to go 3-0.
Playing in the No. 3 spot, Natalie Smitek went 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Gabriella Barrera of BSU, a 6-2, 6-0 win over Haley Slay of NKU, and a 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 win over Baby Jordan of Dayton.
Ella DeFord posted a 3-0 record in the No. 4 spot in her first collegiate tournament, taking a 6-3, 6-1 win over Asia Ting Fontana of Ball State, a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cassia Adamowsky of NKU and a 6-4, 6-0 win over Mallory Hitchcock of Dayton.
Sofia Mazzucato played in the No. 5 spot, taking a 6-3, 6-0 win against Jemima Williams-Phillips of BSU, a 6-1, 6-3 win over Caroline van der Riet of NKU, and a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win against Haley Klein of Dayton to go 3-0.
Ellie Brotherton also went 3-0, playing in the No. 6 spot, topping Anya Tkachyk of BSU, 6-4, 6-2, Didi Steenhuis of NKU, 6-1, 6-0, and Grace Murphy of Dayton, 6-2, 6-4.
The Musketeers went 8-1 in doubles action for the weekend. Rexroat and DeFord combined to play in the No. 1 spot, taking a 6-2 win against Hitchcock and Jordan of Dayton, and a 6-3 win over Slay and Bhat of NKU, but falling, 6-3, to Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz of Ball State, the lone setback for the Musketeers for the tournament. The duo from BSU earned doubles MVPs for the weekend.
Smitek and Brotherton went 3-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot, taking a 6-2 win over Klein and Sierra of Dayton, a 6-3 win over Alana Bristow and Barrera of BSU, and a 6-3 win over Steenuis and Cartharina Cardoso of NKU.
In the No. 3 spot, Siminski and Mazzucato picked up three wins, topping UD's Chin and Murphy, 6-0, BSU's Rana and Noa Kosman, 6-3, and NKU' s van der Riet and Adamowsky, 6-3.
