Lacrosse Hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday Afternoon

The Musketeers look to bounce back after two one-point losses in Virginia earlier this week.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier lacrosse team returns from a two-game stint in Virginia to host Vanderbilt on Saturday at Corcoran Field. First draw is set for 12:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on Xavier+.
The Musketeers are coming off of back-to-back losses to William & Mary and Old Dominion each by a score of one. Haley Reeck scored a combined five goals through both games in the team's spring break trip to the East Coast.
Maya Graham earned a spot on the latest BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career. The sophomore scored a career-high six points on three goals and three assists in XU's dominant 16-2 win over Detroit Mercy last Saturday. The attacker then followed up with two assists against William & Mary.Â
In their last outing at home, the Musketeers took a 16-2 win over Detroit Mercy which set the program record for largest goal margin. Four different Musketeers notched a hat trick in the game, also setting a new program record.
Xavier hosts Vanderbilt in the final tune up before BIG EAST play begins next weekend. The Musketeers will head to Villanova for their league opener on March 21.

- Megan Droney and Maya Graham are both tied for the team lead of 18 points. Droney has scored in the past four-straight games and also leads the team with 11 assists. Graham
- Samantha Balara has a team-high 12 goals and is currently on a four-game scoring streak. The redshirt junior has recorded two hat tricks this season.
- Cameron Yard leads the team with 15 draw controls on the season and has contributed five goals and an assist.
- Colby Wasson leads the defense with 25 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. The junior ranks 14th in the nation for her 3.13 ground balls per game.
- Jada Brandon leads the BIG EAST and is ninth in the nation with a .516 save percentage. The senior also ranks 14th among NCAA goalies with 66 total saves and 15th for her 8.26 goals against average.Â
- The Musketeer defense also ranks fifth in the NCAA for a combined .519 save percentage, 14th in scoring defense with 8.00 goals allowed per game and 21st with 10.50 caused turnovers per game.
- Head coach Brittney Morris picked up her first win as a Division I head coach on Feb. 20 in the 13-6 victory over Mercyhurst. She is in her first season at the helm of Xavier lacrosse after leading Division III St. Mary's College of Maryland to four-straight United East conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Morris retained 20 players from last year's squad with the addition of five transfers and seven newcomers.
- Samantha Balara, Catherine Gurd and Katelyn McDonnell were named the 2026 team captains.

- Vanderbilt is off to a 3-5 start to the 2026 season, losing their last two games to Ohio State, 16-4, and Coastal Carolina, 8-7.
- The Commodores were picked to finish fourth in the American Conference this year after a 3-3 league finish and a conference semifinals appearance last season.
- Freshman Gabby Putman was named the American's Midfielder of the Week for her 11 draw controls, one goal, one assist and three ground balls against Eastern Michigan and Ohio State.
- Brooke Baker, Alex Gladding and Nancy Halleron all earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference Team. Halleron leads the team with 17 goals while Gladding leads the defense with 13 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
- Sophomore Shea Panzik has a team-high 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists.
- Xavier is 0-2 all-time against VU, dropping last season's contest in Nashville, 18-9.
- Head coach Beth Hewitt is in her eigth season at the helm of Vanderbilt lacrosse.
