Samson Sergi found the equalizer for XU in the 28th minute, scoring for the second straight match

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Redshirt sophomore Samson Sergi had the equalizer in the 28th minute as Xavier men's soccer earned a road result, drawing against No. 15 Kentucky, 1-1, on Wednesday night at the Bell Soccer Complex.

Sergi's goal was his fifth of the season with junior Simen Hestnes getting the assist off a service from the right side of the field.

With the result, the Musketeers extended their unbeaten streak to seven straight and moved their record to 5-1-2 (1-0 BIG EAST).

Kentucky's ledger goes to 5-1-2 and 2-0 in the C-USA.

The Wildcats outshot XU 12-5 and took a 4-2 edge in corner kicks, but redshirt freshman Zach Nelson was up to task between the pipes. Fresh off BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors, Nelson recorded a career-high six saves in a standout performance.

NOTABLE

• Xavier moved to 11-10-5 overall against Top 25 opponents since 2010.
• XU extended its unbeaten streak to seven straight since dropping its opener in late August. The unbeaten streak is the longest for the Musketeers since a nine-game spurt in 2014.
• The Musketeers took a season low two corners, but still hold a 61-22 edge against their opponents this season.
• The goal was Sergi's fifth of the season, which leads the team. He has scored five times during XU's seven match unbeaten streak.
• Xavier was outshot for just the second time this season, 12-5.
