
Swimming Competes in Cleveland State's Three-Day Magnus Cup

Men's and women's swimming enters the pool for the eighth annual CSU Magnus Cup.
CINCINNATI - Xavier's men's and women's swimming travels to Cleveland, partaking in the eighth annual Cleveland State Magnus Cup. The meet kicks off on Friday, November 22 and concludes Sunday evening at Robert R. Busbey Natatorium. Last season, both the men and women finished the Magnus Cup claiming third place.Â

- Prelims each day are set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Finals sessions for Friday and Saturday will begin at 5:00 p.m., while Sunday's finals will begin at 4:00 p.m.Â
- An all-weekend ticket for the Magnus Cup will be $30 for adults and $20 for seniors and children. An all-day ticket will be $12 for adults and $8Â for seniors or children.
- Heat sheets will be available for $2 per session.

- In each racing event, the women will compete first, followed by the men.
- All traditional individual and relay events will take place, in addition to 1-meter and 3-meter diving.Â
- The top 40 swimmers will advance into A, B, C and D finals. However, only the top 20 will score in each event.
- All relays and the 1650 freestyle will be contested as timed finales. Early heats of the 1650 freestyle will be swum after Sunday's preliminary session concludes with the top men's and women's heats swimming with finals. All relays will swim with finals.Â

- Tilly Baldwin placed fifth in the mile with a time of 17:10.10, a season-best for the Musketeers.
- Lorelei Gaertner set a season-best time for the Musketeers of 25.83 in the prelims of the 50 fly before finishing ninth in the A-Final of the event. Annie Cummins finished 13th competing in the B-Final.
- Taylor Hogan set the best time by a Musketeer this season, 2:02.21, in the prelims of the 200 back before leading a trio of Musketeers in the A-Final with a sixth-place finish. Ali Fort placed seventh and Caroline Gaertner finished ninth.
- Emily Conners' time of 49.97, the best by a Musketeer this season, led Xavier with a second place finish in the 100 free. Tianna Vozarfinished seventh with a time of 51.25, her best time so far season.
- Lydia Schaeffer set a time of 2:22.39, the best for Xavier so far this season, in the prelims of the 200 breast, then finished 15th in the B-Final.
- Ali Fort took the top spot in 50 back with a time of 25.67, the best time for the Musketeers this season. Caroline Gaertner finished fifth in the A-Final and Anne Locker finished 12th, competing in the B-Final.
- Taylor Hogan set the top time in the prelims of the 200 fly, 2:00.88, improving her own school record. Hogan took second in the A-Final.
- Tianna Vozar, Emily Saugstad, Abigail Garner and Emily Conners closed out the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay with a season-best time of 3:24.15.
- Xavier remained in third place to close out the meet, standing behind Akron and Buffalo.

- Nick Mahoney's time of 16:04.98 in the mile placed eighth in the timed final and was the fastest by a Musketeer this season.
- Landon Clark set a new school-record time of 51.28 in the prelims of the 100 IM, then finished second in the A-Final to lead Xavier.
- David Bunnell's time of 22.68 in the 50 fly finished fourth in the A-Final. Roark Lundal also competed in the A-Final, finishing eighth.
- Alex Sironen used a season-best time for the Musketeers, 1:50.38, to finish third in the A-Final of the 200 back. Chase Baldwin matched that season-best time to take the top spot in the B-Final.
- Nathan Runyon and Nick Mahoney also competed in the A-Final of the 200 back, finishing seventh and 10th respectively.
- Sam Johanns led Xavier with a time of 45.85 in the A-Final of the 100 free, finishing fifth with the best time by a Musketeer so far this season. David Bunnell finished eighth in the A-Final. Enrique Hernandez set the top time in the B-Final.
- Matthew Dyer's time of 2:04.25 in the prelims of the 200 breast was the top time this season by a Musketeer this season. Dyer finished fourth in the A-Final. Cameron Weese also competed in the A-Final, finishing 10th.
- Sam Johanns took the top spot in the A-Final of the 50 back, leading four Musketeers in the top five and setting a new meet record of 23.00 in the process.
- Alex Sironen, Nathan Runyon, and Chase Baldwin also finished top-five in the 50 back, finishing second, fourth and fifth, respectively.
- Landon Clark set a season-best time for Xavier, 1:53.87, in the prelims of the 200 fly. Brandon Abboud led Xavier in the A-Final, taking seventh. Clark finished eighth in the A-Final and Bradley Jackson took 10th place.
- Xavier closed out the meet with two top-10 finishes in the 400 free relay. Sam Johanns, Enrique Hernandez, David Bunnell and Alex Sironen took third with a season-best time of 3:02.89. Ben Quon, Matthew Geraghty, Jared Ritz and Brandon Abboud finished eighth.
- Xavier remained in third place, behind host CSU and Simon Fraser.

- To open the meet at Indiana State, Brooke Atkins, Lydia Schaeffer, Taylor Hogan and Emily Conners placed a close second in the 400 medley.
- Emma Kauffeld placed fifth in the 1000 free touching the wall at 10:42.51.
- In the 200 free, Emily Saugstad placed in fifth with a time of 1:58.34.
- Taylor Hogan finished in second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.92.
- In the 100 breaststroke, Clare Bosse placed third with a time of 1:07.32.
- Sophia Romero placed thirdin the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.87.
- Emily Conners placed second in back to back events clocking a time of 24.29 in the 50 freestyle, and a 53.41 in the 100 freestyle.
- Taylor Hogan followed Conners by placing second in the 200 backstroke 2:06.71.
- In the 200 breaststroke, Kelly Harris Placed third with a time of 2:26.39.
- Emma Kauffeld had another team-top finish in the 500 freestyle in fifth, just in front of Sophia Romero and Emma Swabb.
- Xavier finished four in a row in the 100 butterfly lead by Lorelei Gaertner who finished in third.Â
- Alison Herman claimed the third-place finish in the 200 IM.Â
- To close the meet, Maureen Cummins, Emily Saugstad, Clare Bosse, Emily Conners took the second-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.Â
- Indiana State topped Xavier 199 – 62, the final score included two diving events which Xavier did not participate in.Â
