Men's Tennis Returns to Action This Weekend

CINCINNATI – Xavier Men's Tennis returns to action this weekend on Friday, January 24 and Sunday, January 26 as they take on Northern Kentucky and Wright State. The match on Friday against Northern Kentucky is set to start at 7 p.m. in Highland Heights, Ky. The Musketeers will then take on Wright State in Dayton at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

THE OPPONENT: NORTHERN KENTUCKY

Last season, NKU finished 5-12 overall and went 3-5 in matches at home.
The Norse opened the season with a 0-7 loss to Ohio State on the road on Jan. 15.
Xavier defeated NKU last season, 5-2, on Feb. 24.
Xavier is a perfect 13-0 against the Norse dating back to their first matchup in the 2005-06 season.

THE OPPONENT: WRIGHT STATE

Wright State finished last season with an overall record of 8-18 and went 6-7 at home.
Wright State opened their season with a 0-7 loss to Ohio State on Jan. 19. They will play Toledo at home on Jan. 24 before meeting Xavier on Jan. 26.
The Musketeers defeated Wright State last season, 6-1.
Xavier is 11-1 against Wright State dating back to 2006.

LAST TIME OUT

Xavier fell in their second match of the spring dual season to No. 6 ranked Ohio State, 0-7, on the road on Jan. 19.
Xavier began the match with doubles play, as Michael Lee and Jan Vrba fell in the No. 2 spot, 6-0. Ohio State secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot over Matthew Graft and Jan Vrba.
In the No. 1 spot, Brett Winters and Srdan Pejic fell to Robert Cash and John McNally of Ohio State, 4-3.
In singles competition, Aaron Thompson fell in the No. 4 spot, 6-0, 6-0. Shashank Reddy fell to James Trotter in the No. 5 spot, and Dominic Macaluso fell in the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-2.
Matthew Graft fell in the No. 3 spot to Justin Boulais, 6-0, 6-2. Then, in the No. 1 spot, Brett Winters fell 6-2, 6-1. Srdan Pejic closed out the match in the No. 2 spot, falling to Ohio State's Cannon Kingsley, 6-2, 6-0.
