Xavier fell to Detroit Mercy 11-10 in the program's home opener

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's lacrosse falls to Detroit Mercy 10-11 in the program's home opener.

The Musketeers continue on at 0-2 (0-0 BIG EAST) while the Titans advance to 1-1 (0-0 MAC).

Xavier jumped out of the gate and secured a 2-0 lead early in the game. Detroit Mercy posted a seven-point scoring run to send the score to 6-2 but the Musketeers answered back with a five-point scoring run of their own. The two squads then traded goals for the final two quarters and Detroit Mercy managed to score an unanswered free position goal to secure the 11-10 win for the Titans.

PROGRAM FIRSTS

Freshman attack Lola Mancuso recorded the program's first hat trick in the game and continued on to set the program high of four goals in a game.

NOTABLES

• Lola Mancuso posted four total goals in the contest, two free position goals and two goals. The freshman attack went four for seven on her shooting with five shots on goal.

• Riley Halloran earned her first Xavier career goal early in the first quarter off of an assist from Mancuso. The graduate attack also picked up one groundball, one draw control, and two caused turnovers.

• Freshman goalkeep Marina Piszczor put up 12 saves against the Titans in the home opener including a save to begin the contest and a save to end it.

• Samantha Balara, the freshman midfielder, picked up two driving goals in the game and contributed one assist, five groundballs, and three caused turnovers to the squad.

• Graduate defender, Hannah McFeeters, led the Musketeer's defense with six groundballs and four caused turnovers, the team and game high for both categories.

• Freshman midfielder Erin Berls recorded her first collegiate career goal against the Titans.

• The Musketeers totaled 10 goals, three assists, 30 groundballs, 12 draw controls, and 21 caused turnovers.
