Pair take on duo from North Carolina in first round of doubles bracket on Wednesday

WACO, Texas - A pair of Musketeers, Clara Owen and Abby Nugent, are set to take part in the doubles bracket at the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships. Play gets underway for the pair on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Baylor University's Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

Play for the pair opens play against North Carolina's Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby in the Round of 32, on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET. The winner moves on to the Round of 16, set for Thursday, Nov. 21. The Championship, which has traditionally taken place in the spring after the conclusion of the NCAA team championship, is being held in the fall for the first time, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 24.

Nugent, a junior from Springboro, Ohio, and Owen, a freshman from Dayton, Ohio, have collected an 11-2 doubles record as pair this fall. The pair qualified for the NCAA Championships after earning a spot in the Finals at the ITA Conference Masters. The pair picked wins over teams from Fordham, ETSU, South Carolina State and Vanderbilt on the way to the finals.

Nugent and Owen earned a trip to the ITA Conference Masters after advancing to the doubles Finals at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, taking wins over Indiana, Austin Peay, Tennessee and ETSU to get to the Semifinals, then defeated Tennessee's Suarez and Britez Risso to earn a spot in the Championship.
